SET Announces Five Winning Research Papers For 2024/2025 SET Research Scholarship Project

The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) reaffirms its commitment to advancing Thailand's capital market through the 2024/2025 SET Research Scholarship Project, awarding research grants and Best Paper Awards to undergraduate and graduate students while fostering connections between academic institutions and the capital market sector to translate research findings into practical application.

SET President Asadej Kongsiri emphasized that the SET Research Scholarship Project which has continued for more than 12 years demonstrates SET's strong dedication to promoting academic excellence in Thai capital market through high-quality research work. The research themes and program structure evolve annually to reflect emerging trends and developments within the capital market landscape.

“This project exemplifies successful collaboration between academia and the capital market industry, producing practical research that effectively addresses real-world capital market challenges through knowledge exchange, expertise sharing, and diverse perspectives," said Asadej. "The growing participation from educational institutions each year indicates expanding capital market research and education. Advanced research tools and technologies have significantly enhanced the depth and breadth of analysis and forecasting capabilities. This year's submissions demonstrate broader coverage of sustainability topics, aligning with rising trends in sustainable development and ESG-related disclosures.”

The 2024/2025 SET Research Scholarship Project received 26 submissions from 15 educational institutions and expanded its scope to encompass three distinct research tracks: Market Quality Track, ESG Track, and Technology & Interdisciplinary Track. All submissions were evaluated by a distinguished panel of experts from capital market organizations and educational institutions.

The winners of the Best Paper Award are:

  • Market Quality Track: “Does Observability of Downgrade Risk Matter for Corporate Investment?” by Thanwarat Limwattananukul, Chulalongkorn University  
  • ESG Track: “Linking Public ESG Disclosure to Financial Performance and Stock Returns: A Hybrid Analysis of Thailand's SET100 by Saruj Tanmeesuk, National Institute of Development Administration
  • Technology & interdisciplinary Track: NLP-Driven Analysis of News and Public Statements for Corporate Bond Default Risk Assessment in Thailand by Tanakorn Kosawanichkarn, National Institute of Development Administration
