SET And TGO Partner To Empower Workforce And Advance Thailand's Carbon Market

Date 03/08/2026

The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) and Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (TGO) have signed  a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for academic cooperation. The partnership aims are to enhance climate change readiness by upgrading professional capabilities, expanding the network of greenhouse gas (GHG) validators, promoting GHG reduction mechanisms, and strengthening the carbon market. In addition, SET is also ready to integrate key datasets into the SET Carbon platform to accelerate Thai businesses’ transition toward a low-carbon economy and sustainable finance, ultimately boosting the country's long-term competitiveness.

SET President Asadej Kongsiri, said that SET initiated and developed the standardized SET Carbon Platform, which earned TGO certification in 2025. Listed companies can utilize this platform to calculate and disclose GHG emissions data in accordance with the Securities and Exchange Commission or SEC regulations, supported by TGO-authorized verifiers. This collaboration focuses heavily on talent development and increasing certified verifiers. SET will leverage its  expertise in testing standards via the SET Exam platform and its testing centers to streamline examination processes. In addition, SET aims to promote continuous learning and integrate carbon market ecosystem data, ensuring robust GHG data credibility, fostering investor and stakeholder confidence, and reinforcing our vision, ‘The Trusted Gateway to Inclusive Opportunities’.

TGO Executive Director Nakorn Tangavirapat, said that as the leading agency championing Thailand's greenhouse gas reduction efforts, TGO plays a critical role in building capacity across both public and private sectors. Central to this mission is the Climate Action Academy (CAA), established by TGO to develop the specialized talent Thailand's climate transition demands. The collaboration with SET will also help unlock talent constraints and meet the growing demand for qualified professionals, such as carbon market verifiers, within the ecosystem, strengthening transparency and elevating professional standards to a recognized level. This will bolster credibility and enable Thailand's carbon market and emission reduction mechanisms to scale efficiently.

The three-year MoU between SET and TGO focuses on cultivating qualified personnel and advancing GHG reduction mechanisms, driving economic, social, and environmental goals to sustainably lead Thailand toward Net Zero.
