SET, Alliances And Listed Firms Join Forces To Hold “Listed Companies Unite For Sustainable Thai Society” Event

The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), Thai Listed Companies Association, mai Listed Companies Association, Thai Chamber of Commerce, The Federation of Thai Industries and The Thai Bankers’ Association will jointly organize “Listed Companies Unite for Sustainable Thai Society” event on September 29, in Bangkok. This event, gathering top executives from listed companies, portrays Thai listed firms’ role in social development by reducing inequality, while improving and strengthening people’s well-being.

At this event, Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak will deliver a keynote speech, while in the special seminar high-level executives from listed firms will share their experiences and exchange ideas on corporate roles in society. The event also features the exhibitions displaying: 1) social contribution activities of listed companies; 2) listed firms’ collaboration with the Public-Private Collaborative Project for Society.

SET Chairman Chaiyawat Wibulswasdi said that SET is committed to enhancing the capital market in such a way as to benefit all stakeholders, in line with the vision "To Make the Capital Market 'Work' for Everyone". SET encourages listed companies to carry out their business with transparency and take into consideration the stakeholders’ concerns, while being an integral tool to strengthen the Thai economy and society in the long run.

More than 600 listed companies are instrumental in driving the country’s economy and society. Apart from running business with good corporate governance as well as social and environment concerns, listed companies have reached out to the society by using their knowledge and capabilities to develop and solve social problems through a large number of social-related programs such as providing educational opportunity and youth development, quality of life development among the elderly and the disabled people, the skilled labor enhancement, economic development for community.  Significantly, listed companies have also collaborated with the Public-Private Collaborative Project for Society to solve urgent social issues such as savings for happy retirement, housing and environmental development, road safety and many others. This event will further feature the synergy of listed companies in solving the country’s social problems,” Chaiyawat added.
