September 2003 - Euronext Key Indicators - Share Trading Up Over 27% Year-On-Year - Euronext.Liffe Derivatives Up 26% Year-On-Year

Cash products

Trading on Euronext's cash markets is up by 10% year-to-date. A total of over 111 million transactions have been registered over the first nine months of the year. The almost 585,000 transactions registered on a daily average basis since January state a growth of 9.9% on the same period last year.

The total number of transactions in the cash market in September, 14.5 million, is up 25.1% on September last year.

Shares

Transactions in shares have grown by more than 11% in the year-to-date. There have been almost 106 million transactions in shares since the beginning of the year. The 14 million transactions registered in shares in September show an increase of 27.1 % compared to the same month last year.

Trackers

More than 340,000 trades have been registered in trackers since January, 1800 daily on average: which represents an increase of 35.3% year-to-date. Almost 36,000 transactions were made in September.

Derivatives products

Euronext.liffe, the international derivatives business of Euronext, traded 73.8 million futures and options contracts in September 2003, up 26% on September 2002.

From January to end-September, Euronext.liffe traded a total of 532 million contracts, with an average daily volume of 2.7 million contracts.

Equity products traded over 48 million in September with an average daily volume of 2.2 million. On 18 September AEX options set a new daily record, trading 1.37 million contracts.

Short-term interest rate products showed the strongest growth, up 50% year-to-date, with 23.5 million contracts traded during September. Commodity products grew by 18% year-to-date.
