With a total of 10,869,584 transactions in shares in September, the average daily number of trades in shares reached 517,599, an increase of 12.5% compared to August 2002.
The Euronext electronic orderbook turnover in shares remains stable compared to August, totalling €115.8 billion. The average daily turnover in shares amounted €5.5 billion in September, up 5.1% on August; in a particularly difficult market climate, this daily average turnover is down 6.2% year-to-date compared to the same period of 2001.
For six months Euronext has now been the leader for Trackers in Europe, with a 53.8% market share in trading volume in September. The average daily number of transactions in Trackers has grown 102.3% in the year-to-date compared to the same period last year. Euronext offers a total of 59 different products based on 54 different indices.
The Euronext 100 blue chip index and the Next 150 index were respectively down by 17.3% and 14.7% on August 2002.
As of 30 September 2002, the market capitalisation of the 1,506 companies listed on Euronext markets totalled €1,364 billion.
