The Seminar on "Financing through Sukuk and Its Issuing Procedures" was held on July 25by Mellat Investment Bank and Technology Center of Sharif University in Tehran.
The Seminar aimed especially to promote Sukuk as an Islamic bond and raising the awareness of issuers and investors with the investment and models of issuing this kind of security in the capital market. The main issues examined were: the roles of investment banks in developing Sukuk market, types of Sukuk and their application, method of issuing, difference of Sukuk with conventional bonds, secondary market for Sukuk and accounting practices for the instrument.
Also, a special panel, titled "Development of Market Requirements, Sukuk and Its Prospects" was held.
CEO of Tehran Stock Exchange, Minister of Economy, Head of Chamber of Commerce, President of Securities and Exchange Organization, Deputy of Central Bank, CEO of Bank Mellat and some other economic figures attended the event and SEO's chairman of Sharia'h Committee gave a lecture.
The Iranian market with abundant opportunities in the region can be an excellent opportunity to gain a significant share of the Sukuk market and meet Islamic Issues. Entering into this area with a rapid growth in the infrastructure development and the available potentials, could make Iran a hub for introducing new securities based on sharia'hin the region.
