“I’m pleased to have the opportunity to serve SIA’s members in a new capacity,” Kramer said. “While I will continue to fulfill many of the roles that I currently play as adviser to several SIA national committees, I look forward to working on a broader array of regulatory and legislative issues. We have a great team of lawyers in the Office of General Counsel, and I hope that as deputy general counsel I will be able to help make our office even more effective.”
Kramer joined SIA in March 1995. His ongoing areas of responsibility include SIA's amicus program and issues regarding market regulation, private securities litigation, securities analysts, federal legislative proposals, self-regulatory governance, and antitrust matters.
Prior to joining SIA in 1995, Kramer was special counsel to the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs. He served as counsel to SEC Chairman Richard C. Breeden, and as a staff attorney in the SEC's Enforcement Division and Office of General Counsel. He was also an associate at Sullivan & Cromwell from 1984 to 1987. Kramer received his juris doctorate in 1983 from the Columbia University School of Law, where he was an editor of the Columbia Law Review.
