Securities Industry And Financial Markets Association Hires Government Affairs Staff

The Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA) today announced the hiring of Shahira Knight, in the government relations department.

“Shahira is a great addition to our team,” said Richard Hunt, Senior Managing Director of Government Relations at SIFMA. “Her wealth of knowledge and experience match perfectly with the areas where our organization is most active. America’s investors are fortunate to have such a valuable representative advocating on their behalf.”

Most recently, Knight worked at the C2 Group, where, in addition to other duties, she served as outside counsel to the Bond Market Association.

Prior to joining the C2 Group, she served for seven years on the Ways and Means Committee. During her last two years at the committee, Knight was the senior advisor to the chairman, overseeing the committee’s legislative operations and acting as the committee’s top policy advisor and political strategist. She has also served on the committee’s tax staff and Social Security Subcommittee staff, during which she specialized in pension and retirement savings, health care, insurance, and various business tax issues.

Knight also has worked for the Washington National Tax Services Office of PricewaterhouseCoopers and on the majority staff of the Joint Economic Committee.
