Securities Commission Holds InvestSmartĀ® In Pahang To Educate Investors And Improve Scam Awareness

Date 20/06/2025

The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) brings its flagship investor education fair InvestSmart® to the east coast region with a three-day event in Kuantan to boost investment knowledge and improve scam awareness among investors.

The June 20-22 event, known as Bersama InvestSmart®@Pahang 2025, gathers government officials, capital market industry players and regulators under one roof as part of the SC’s investor outreach initiative.

Chairman of Investment, Industrial Development, Science, Technology and Innovation Committee for the State of Pahang, Dato' Mohamad Nizar bin Dato' Sri Mohamad Najib, officiated the event at the East Coast Mall in Kuantan.

More than 40 exhibitors are taking part in the event, themed ‘Bijak Labur Hidup Makmur’.

The SC has also lined up public talks, panel sessions, an anti-scam zone serving as a onestop centre to learn about scams, and more than 100 free one-to-one financial planning sessions under #FinPlan4u® where visitors can learn about their financial goals from licensed financial planners.

SC Chairman Dato’ Mohammad Faiz Azmi emphasised the importance of reaching out directly to Malaysians in combating investment scams and misinformation.

“Financial empowerment starts with education – and that’s what InvestSmart® is all about,” he said in his welcoming speech.

“We want Malaysians to feel confident and equipped to make smart financial choices, especially in today’s rapidly evolving investment landscape. This includes being wellprepared for long-term goals such as retirement planning,” he said.

“As scams become more sophisticated, the best defense is a well-informed public. Through InvestSmart®, we’re building a resilient generation of investors who are not only savvy but also scam-aware,” he added.

Dato’ Mohammad Faiz said the SC has seen a worrying surge in complaints and enquiries, with 3,602 complaints and enquiries received on scams and unlicensed activities in 2024,a 10% increase compared to the year before. As of May, the SC has already received 1,218 complaints and enquiries.

The public is therefore urged to remain vigilant and cautious when dealing with investment opportunities.

Since 2014, InvestSmart® has reached millions of Malaysians nationwide through fairs and community engagements. With investment scams on the rise, especially in the digital space, initiatives like InvestSmart® play a vital role in creating vigilant and well-informed investors.

This is the first time that Bersama InvestSmart® is being held in Pahang, following successful editions in Johor, Penang, Sarawak and Sabah.
