Securities & Investment Institute First UK Financial Services Body In Kuwait

The Securities & Investment Institute (SII) has become the first UK financial services body to establish itself in the Kuwait market by announcing an agreement with the Gulf University for Science & Technology (GUST).

Alderman David Lewis, The Rt. Hon The Lord Mayor of the City of London witnessed a formal signing of an agreement between SII and GUST at a ceremony at the GUST new campus located in Mishref, Kuwait.

Keynote speakers at the ceremony will included Dr William J. Wadden, Dean of Continuing Education-GUST, Mr Firas Al-Oda, Deputy Managing Director-Educational Holding Company (EDU), Mr Issam Al-Tawari, Vice Chairman-CEO at Rasameel Structured Finance Co and Ruth Martin, Managing Director, SII.

The agreement announced that SII has accredited GUST as a local training provider and that the two organisations will work together to establish a test centre. One of the qualifications which will be offered by SII will be the Islamic Finance Qualification (IFQ). The IFQ is the first global benchmark examination covering Islamic Finance to be available to candidates via Computer Based Testing (CBT). It is the world’s first ever global benchmark qualification to cover Islamic Finance from both a technical product knowledge and a Sharia’a aspect.
