Securities And Exchange Commission Statement On Treasury Long Bond Situation

The Securities and Exchange Commission today issued the following statement:

"Following a referral from the Department of the Treasury, we have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the announcement of the Treasury's decision to end its 30-year bond offerings." Enforcement Division Director Stephen Cutler added: "In keeping with our responsibilities to ensure the integrity of the nation's securities markets, we will vigorously pursue this matter. During the course of this investigation, we will decline to comment further."
