Second CBOE Seat Sells For One Million Dollars - Sale Matches Previous Record Set On Tuesday, February 7th

Date 08/02/2006

The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) announced that a seat, or membership, was bought late yesterday afternoon at a price of $1,000,000. This ties the new record seat price of $1,000,000 set earlier in the day on Tuesday, February 7th and surpasses the previous high of $925,000, set just last week on Friday, February 3, 2006. Yesterday's two seat sales for $1,000,000 are the first time in CBOE history that a seat at the Exchange has reached this milestone.

As of this morning, the current offer to sell a seat posted in the CBOE seat market stands at $1,800,000. Seats are bought and sold via CBOE's Membership Department using an auction method in which bids and offers are submitted to the Exchange on an "as-desired" basis. When a bid matches an offer, a sale is made.

CBOE, the world's largest options marketplace and the creator of listed options, is regulated by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). For additional information about the CBOE and its products, visit the CBOE website at: http://www.cboe.com/
