RSS (which also stands for RDF Site Summary and Rich Site Summary) is an open XML-based standard for news syndication. It can be consumed by standard RSS readers or custom-built applications to automatically access standardized and up-to-date web information without necessarily having to use a browser.
The EDGAR XBRL RSS feed file contains links to and useful metadata for all EDGAR XBRL documents. This information can be subsequently consumed by applications that view, analyze and manipulate the XBRL tagged data contained in these documents.
Direct access to the EDGAR RSS feed file is available at http://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/xbrlrss.xml. Access is also available by going to the Search the EDGAR Database page at http://www.sec.gov/edgar/searchedgar/webusers.htm and pressing the orange XML button located next to XBRL RSS Feed.
Please note that since this file is another proof-of-concept aspect of the pilot program, its contents and format may be subject to change with little or no prior warning.
