SEC Names Meyer Eisenberg Acting Director Of Division Of Investment Management

The Securities and Exchange Commission today named Meyer Eisenberg Acting Director of the Commission's Division of Investment Management.

Since 1998, Eisenberg has served as Deputy General Counsel for the Commission. In that role, he has been responsible for issues arising under the Investment Company Act and Investment Advisers Act. He has served as the principal liaison between the Office of General Counsel and the Division of Investment Management on all matters involving investment advisers, investment companies, their service providers, and their distributors.

Chairman Donaldson said, "Mike is a distinguished member of the securities bar and his history of service to the Commission and to the investing public is unmatched. I am delighted that he has agreed to serve as Acting Division Director during this interim period."

From 1970 to 1998, Eisenberg was in private practice. In 1985-1986, he was Director, National Center on Financial Services and Visiting Professor of Law, University of California at Berkeley. From 1988-1990, he was Adjunct Professor of Law at Georgetown University. Eisenberg previously served at the Commission from 1959 -1970. During that period, he was the Executive Assistant to then Chairman Manuel F. Cohen, Associate General Counsel, and Assistant Chief Counsel of the Division of Investment Management. Eisenberg earned his law degree from Columbia University, and his undergraduate degree from Brooklyn College.
