The Advisory Committee was established by the SEC to examine the impact of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 and other federal securities laws on smaller companies. The Committee has been holding hearings in various parts of the country since June 2005. At a hearing held in New York on October 14, the Committee indicated that it was at the end of its fact finding phase and entering its report writing period. The Committee is required to present its final report to the Commission in April 2006.
