Sanepar Celebrates The Start Of Trading Of Its Shares At BM&FBOVESPA’s Nível 2

On Wednesday (Dec. 21), BM&FBOVESPA received Companhia de Saneamento do Paraná – Sanepar at a ceremony to celebrate the start of trading of the company’s shares at the Nível 2 listing segment for companies committed to the Exchange’s highest corporate governance standards.

Taking part in the ceremony were BM&FBOVESPA’s acting CEO Luis Furtado; BM&FBOVESPA’s Chief Product and Customer Officer Juca Andrade; the Governor of Paraná State, Beto Richa; the CEO of Sanepar, Mounir Chaowiche; Sanepar’s IR Director, Ney Amilton Caldas Ferreira; as well other members of the company’s upper management and of the capital market.  

In his speech, Paraná state Governor Beto Richa celebrated Sanepar’s operation occurring while Brazil is still going through difficult times, which he said demonstrates resumed investor confidence. Speaking to the event’s public Sanepar CEO Mounir Chaowiche stressed the importance of good management at the company: “We are now demonstrating that when you have good governance, when you carry out your mission of serving society with a financial, administrative and operational management like Sanepar has today, it consolidates the company as a global reference in governance.”

During the event, BM&FBOVESPA’s Chief Product and Customer Officer Juca Andrade highlighted the importance of the capital market as an instrument for financing companies’ business. “With this offering, Sanepar provides the market with another demonstration of its commitment to transparency, equity and liquidity, which lays the foundations for best corporate governance practices in its business activities,” he said.

Sanepar is the sixth largest water and sanitation company listed on the Exchange. It is a state-owned enterprise that offers treated water provision, waste water disposal, selective collection and solid waste treatment, in Paraná State.

Sanepar’s adhesion to Nível 2 means that there are now 191 companies listed at BM&FBOVESPA’s differentiated corporate governance segments: 129 on the Novo Mercado, 19 at Nível 2, 28 at Nível 1, 13 at Bovespa Mais and 02 at Bovespa Mais Nível 2.
