Highlights include:

• U.S. equities garnered robust gains across the board in the first half of 2014. The DJIA and S&P 500 ended up 3% and 7% year to date, respectively, with the S&P 500 closing at an all-time high (1963) on June 20th. Low volatility persisted, with the S&P 500 VIX Short-Term Futures down 15% for the month and 33% year to date.
• Energy led among the 10 sectors of the S&P 500 this month, gaining 5%. The Utilities sector was a close second and retained its position as the strongest performer year to date (19%).
