Under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sandooq Al Watan, the Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA) and Sandooq Al Watan held a graduation ceremony for the first batch of graduates from the Financial Market Pioneers Program, which was launched by the SCA and Sandooq Al Watan in cooperation with the ADGM Academy as part of the endless efforts to qualify Emirati cadres and empower them to excel in the financial services industry in the UAE.
H.E. Dr. Maryam Buti Al Suwaidi, CEO of the SCA; H.E. Yasser Al Gergawi, Director General of Sandooq Al Watan; and Mr. Jassim Al Marzooqi, Associate Director at the ADGM Academy, honored the graduates for successfully completing all the requirements of the training program, which was launched in November last year and has been bringing together an elite group of Emirati citizens working at several government and private organizations and financial institutions in the UAE.
In her opening speech, Dr. Al Suwaidi extended her heartfelt thanks to H.E. Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak for his patronage of the ceremony, lauding the considerable efforts that Sandooq Al Watan has made, under his leadership, to promote the economic and social development of the UAE and its ongoing initiatives to empower and train the national cadres in different fields.
Dr. Al Suwaidi said: “The SCA is proud of the graduation of the first batch of graduates from the Financial Market Pioneers Program, which it launched in cooperation with its strategic partners to form a strong base of young national competencies to join the securities sector and effectively contribute to foreseeing its future by providing them with the training required to enable them to keep pace with the developments in the financial services industry, in accordance with the aspirations and visions of our wise leadership”.
“This achievement is the result of the endless efforts of Sandooq Al Watan and the ADGM Academy, our key partners, to launch this pioneering program, through which we are looking to achieve positive results that serve the interest of our national economy and positively affect the social and sustainable development of the UAE,” she concluded.
In a speech addressing the graduates, H.E. Al Gergawi said: “This is a day on which we celebrate the UAE’s sons and daughters for their keenness to attend the program and the great efforts they have made to complete it. On this day, we emphasize the role played by Sandooq Al Watan in cooperation with all other organizations, authorities, and individuals to support the UAE’s youth in various fields, particularly the financial field, to be better able to work in these fields by improving their abilities and investing their capabilities, confirming that the directives of H.E. Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak have always been focusing on making Sandooq Al Watan’s services available to the largest possible segment of the UAE’s young population, whether directly or by cooperating with other parties to launch joint initiatives and activities aimed at qualifying and empowering the nation’s sons and daughters and providing them with material and technical support to become future leaders and builders of this dear homeland”.
Al Gergawi confirmed that Sandooq Al Watan will remain keen on qualifying and empowering the youth to excel in multiple fields and encouraging them to develop their abilities in innovation and creativity. Based on this, the Financial Market Pioneers Program, whose graduates we are celebrating today, was launched in cooperation between Sandooq Al Watan, the SCA, and the ADGM Academy, confirming that this is a great opportunity for extending thanks to them and announcing our firm determination to continually cooperate with each other to organize more joint courses and activities targeting the UAE’s sons and to meet the desire that many of the UAE’s young people have to join such intensive courses.
Al Gergawi called upon the graduates of the Financial Market Pioneers Program to invest the knowledge acquired and the expertise of the lecturers and experts who oversaw it to excel in this important field and achieve the successes they aspire to, confirming that this program focused on the principles of financial markets and their role in promoting the national economy, the key principles of investing in securities, mechanisms for managing anticipated risks, and financial derivatives and the importance of Islamic and sustainable finance. The program introduced participants to the UAE financial laws and regulations and reviewed the future of the securities industry in light of the accelerated technological developments.

On this occasion, we confirm that the ADGM Academy will continue making efforts to improve the UAE’s financial sector by training and qualifying specialized national cadres who can contribute to promoting overall development, in line with our national role to enhance the financial sector, a key driver of the UAE’s economy, and build a sustainable, knowledge-based future in line with Abu Dhabi’s vision and the country’s strategies”.
Financial Market Pioneers Program
The Financial Market Pioneers Program aims to familiarize participants with the main principles of investing in securities, the mechanisms for managing anticipated risks, financial derivatives and the importance of Islamic and sustainable finance, in addition to shedding light on the UAE financial laws and regulations and reviewing the future of the securities industry in light of the accelerated technological advancements.
The program targets various categories, including new investors, candidates from Sandooq Al Watan, employees of public joint stock companies licensed by the SCA, and candidates from federal and local counterpart authorities, along with the SCA’s fresh graduate employees holding a bachelor’s degree and nominated by the SCA Youth Council. Participants should complete 84 training hours in 3 consecutive weeks.
The program also enables participants to join the market as broker representatives, according to the terms and conditions applied by the SCA, and sit for international tests to promote their career path, including Fundamentals of Financial Services (offered by the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment) and Investment Foundations Certificate (offered by the Chartered Financial Analyst Institute).
