Sanderson Farms Inc. Added to S&P SmallCap 600 Index

Sanderson Farms Inc. (NASD:SAFM) will replace International Multifoods Corp. (NYSE:IMC) in the S&P SmallCap 600 after the close of trading on Thursday, June 17, 2004. International Multifoods is being acquired by S&P MidCap 400 constituent J.M. Smucker Co. (NYSE:SJM) in a deal expected to close on or about that date, pending shareholder and regulatory approvals. Sanderson Farms produces, processes and distributes fresh and frozen chicken and other prepared food items. Headquartered in Laurel, MS, the company will be added to the S&P SmallCap 600 GICS (Global Industry Classification Standard) Packaged Foods & Meats Sub-Industry Index.
