Russian Trading System: Weekly Results

For the week of August 5th - August 9th, 2002, the RTS Index showed a loss of only 0.97% to close at 324.78, down from 327.96 on August 2nd. The RTS Technical Index inched down 0.39%, from 360.19 on August 2nd to 358.78.

The week's top performers include RAO UES preferred shares (EESRP) that closed up 10.63% at $0,077, Baltika Brewing Company common shares (PKBA) that reached $14.27, up 9,77% on the last closing, and LUKoil common shares (LKOH) that went up 5% to reach $15.29.

The top losers of the week are KAMAZ common shares (KMAZ) that slid 6.3% down to $0.305 per share, Norilsk Nickel common shares (GMKN) that ended 5.85% down at $19.3, and Irkutskenergo common shares (IRGZ) that sunk 5.25% to $0.0632.

Total RTS turnover for the week equaled $64.426 million, compared to $66.427 million the previous week. The classic OTC market weekly turnover reached $64.201 million, with daily volume of $12.840 million. The previous week showed $66.318 million and $13.264 million, accordingly. The average daily volume across the board lost 3.01%.

The list of last week's bestsellers includes LUKoil Holdings (LKOH) common shares with weekly turnover of $17.267 million, RAO UES common shares (EESR)- $13.588 million, and common shares of Surgutneftegas (SNGS), their weekly turnover reaching $11.364 million. The share of these securities in the overall turnover amounted to 26.90%, 21.17% and 17.70%, respectively.

The Guaranteed Trading System weekly turnover reached $224.639 thousand.

Weekly trading volume in the RTS Board, the system used for indicative quoting of non-RTS listed securities, shrunk from $702.207 thousand to $377.584.
