Russian Trading System Classic Market: Weekly Data Report

For the week of October 14th -October 18th, 2002, the RTS Index gained 4.35% and closed at 357.43. The RTS Technical Index closed 4.15% higher at 392.15.

The week's top performers include Slavneft-Megionnneftegaz preferred shares (MFGSP) that gained 30.94% and reached $4.19, Slavneft-Megionneftegaz common shares (MFGS) that posted a 22.34% increase and closed at $8.87 and "Norilsky Nickel" (GMKN) common shares that reached $1.45, up 10.85% on last closing.

The top losers of the week were North-West Telecom (SPTL) that dropped 11.54% to $0.345 per share, AVTOVAZ common shares (AVAZ) that closed 9.48% down at $26.25, and Bashneft preferred shares (BANEP) that lost 7.05% to close at $1.45.

Total RTS turnover for the week (October11th - October 18th) equaled $75.350 million, an increase over $68.814 million the week before. The Classic RTS market weekly turnover reached $75.350 million, with daily turnover of $15.070 million. The previous week (October 4th-October 11th) showed $68.814 million and $13.763 million, respectively. The average daily volume across the board posted a 9.50% increase.

The list of last week's bestsellers includes RAO UES common shares (EESR) with weekly turnover of $18.199 million shares, LUKOil common shares (LKOH) - $17.577 million, and common shares of Surgutneftegaz (SNGS) with weekly turnover of $10.236 million. The share of these securities in the overall turnover amounted to 24.15%, 23.33% and 13.58%, respectively.
