Russell 1000® Futures Index Contract on NYBOT Breaks 5,000 in Open Interest in First Week of Trading

After its first full week of trading, the newly launched Russell 1000 Index futures contract on the New York Board of Trade (NYBOT) reached an open interest level of 5,057 at the end of trading on Friday, March 12, 1999. Futures volume to date stands at 13,014 contracts traded. The futures contract began trading on the New York Futures (NYFE) subsidiary on Friday, March 5. The first day's trading volume was 4,019 contracts, with open interest of 1,864. Options trading began on Monday, March 8 and night trading began on March 11 for the March 12 trading day.
