Activity on global and emerging markets remained high during March 2010. The Russian market is growing against a favourable foreign background, positive news from the US government reports and rising commodity prices.
The leading RTS Index gained 11.46% during March, reaching 1,572.48 points. On March 31, 2010 the RTS Index grew by 2.3% and reached 1,608.39 points. This Index value broke 19 month highs making the RTS Index so far the best performing stock index in the world.
In March 2010 the RTS volumes were up 29.70% over February 2010. Total RTS Exchange and OTC market activity grew to USD53.04 billion during March 2010.
Activity on Futures and Options on RTS (FORTS) during March soared even more with volumes up 10.28% to 42.5 million contracts compared with February 2010.
International firms were prominent during the month, with Deutsche Securities listed as the second largest broker on the RTS Stock market.
