Over the week of March 23 – March 27, 2009, the RTS Index went up by 3.48% to reach 721.16 points (696.93 points as of March 20, 2009). Most of the positive impact on the Index dynamics was related to the growing prices for ordinary shares of "LUKOIL" (LKOH) (plus 7.02 points), Gazprom ordinary shares (GAZP) (plus 5.95 points) and ordinary shares of OJSC Uralkali (URKA) (plus 4.95 points).
The "second-tier" stock index – RTS-2 went up by 5.91% to reach 509.41 points (481.00 points as of March 20, 2009). Last week all the key economy sectors represented on the Russian stock market showed a positive trend. The largest growth was demonstrated by the industrial sector, with the corresponding index increasing by 18.04%. Significant increase was registered in the consumer & retail sector, with the corresponding index gaining 8.67%. The slightest growth was shown by the metals & mining sector. The RTSI – Metals & Mining went up by 0.57%.

Over the last week the US dollar lost 1.05% against the RF rouble to 33.47 roubles per US dollar (33.82 as of March 20, 2009).
The week's top sellers were Sberbank ordinary shares (SBER) – $6.318 million, followed by Gazprom ordinary shares (GAZP) - $5.810 million and ordinary shares of OJSC "MMC "NORILSK NICKEL" (GMKN) – $3.636 million. The share of each security in the total trading volume made up 16.86%, 15.50% and 9.70% respectively.
The week's top gainers were ordinary shares of GAZ (GAZA) – by 73.91% to $10 followed by privileged shares of OJSC "Rostelecom" (RTKMP) – by 50.00% to $0.9 and ordinary shares of OJSC Uralkali (URKA) – by 49.74% to $2.92.
The week's top losers were ordinary shares of OJSC "ROSINTER RESTAURANTS HOLDING" (ROST) that fell in price by 11.89% to reach $3.43624 followed by Surgutneftegas ordinary shares (SNGS) that lost 9.99% to close at $0.6391 and ordinary shares of NLMK (NLMK) that went down by 7.41% to $1.25.
