RTS Stock Exchange: The Trading Volume On The Classic Market Reached Its Maximum Value For The Past Year

By the end of the trading session on August 16, 2005, a new record in total trading volume for the past year was set on the Classic Market – 64,8 million dollars. The previous record in turnover per day on the Classic Market was set on April 22, 2004, and amounted to 72,8 million US dollars.

Yesterday's growth in trading volume was simultaneous to RTS index growth, which yesterday reached its historic maximum at 836,28 points (836,25 points by the end of the trading session).

Based on the results of the trading session on August 16, 2005, following the RTS index growth (by 2,95% compared to the last hours of Monday's trading), futures prices also went up – September futures prices increased by 3,03% based on RTX index scale, December futures prices increased by 3,02%. Market participants are therefore expecting RTS index to reach 840,60 points by mid September and 850,55 points by mid December.
