The RTS Index grew by 2.66% compared with the previous closing; daily gain equaled 0.53%. Overall, from the beginning of year 2003, the RTS Index has gained 1,05% (on January 4th, at the opening of the first trading session of the year, RTS Index equaled 396.56).
The RTS Index, the benchmark Russian securities market indicator, has been calculated since September 1st, 1995, based on the most liquid securities quoted on the RTS Stock Exchange. Index initial value was set at 100 points; the index all-time high recorded on October 6th, 1997, equals 571,66 points, the all-time low posted on October 2nd, 1998 is equal to 37,74. The index is calculated on thirty-minute intervals of each trading session based on the most liquid securities trading information. Updated real-time, the RTS Index value is posted on the RTS Web site, broadcasted on workstations and disseminated by information agencies.
