RTS Stock Exchange Classic Market: July 2005 Market Data

In July 2005, total trading volume on the RTS Stock Exchange Classic Market increased by 50% and reached 682 million US dollars, compared with 455 million US dollars in June 2005. Daily trading volume also increased by 50% and reached 32,5 million US dollars a day compared to 21,6 million US dollars in June. 4 480 trades were made during the period from 1 up to 31 July, which is 40% greater than the number of trades made in June (3 205).

The RTS Index closed on July 29, 2005, at 778,93 points, which is 10% higher than the Index closing value as of June 30, 2005 (706,38 points). The RTS-2 Index (second-tier stocks index) increased by 6,8% - from 915,12 to 981,42 points.

From July 25, 2005, RTS Classic Market extended its trading hours. RTS Classic Market is now opened from 10.30 am to 6.45 pm Moscow time.

As of July 25, 2005, it is required that transactions in 8 certain securities on the RTS Classic Market be settled based on DVP system. Following this requirement the share of DVP deals grew up to 52,8% of all the deals during last week of the month, from 25 until 29 July. The share of DVP deals amounted to only 37,7% of the whole trading volume from January until June 2005.
