Romania Central Depository: Total Value Of Financial Instrument Holdings Saw Important Increase In 2009

The value of the holdings administrated into RoClear system in late 2009, exceeded 17.6 billion Euros

The total value of financial instrument holdings for which Depozitarul Central is the issuer depository saw an important increase in 2009, with 30.4%, amounting to 73.867.202.075 RON (17.5 billion Euros) compared to 56.613.998.876 RON (14.5 billion Euros) as recorded in late 2008.

Of this value, the common shares were 72.757.739.536 RON (up with 28% compared to 2008), preferred shares 980.995 RON, municipality bonds 723.237.000 RON (up with 49%), corporate bonds 337.300.000 RON and fund units 47.944.544 RON (up with 16%).

The total value of non-resident investors holdings, which in 2009 had a share of 45% of the total, rose over 44% compared with 2008, reaching up to 33.004.063.150 RON. At the end of 2008, the total value of non resident holdings was 22.880.013.073 RON.

Compared to 2008, the total value of the resident investor holdings increased by 21%, amounting to 40.863.138.925 RON late 2009, over 33.733.985.803 RON at the end of 2008.

A ranking of the top ten countries having holdings indicated Austria on first place with 11.293.199.032 RON, followed by France with 5.469.365.296 RON and Netherlands with 3.755.931.949 RON. Rating continues with Switzerland - 2.638.826.172 RON, USA -2.435.786.169 RON, Cyprus - 2.272.269.924 RON, England - 1.266.070.909 RON, Luxembourg - 1.063.786.006 RON, Germany - 491.939.743 RON, Greece - 308.753.030 RON. The other countries, that have less than 1 % amounted 2.008.134.916 RON.
