Risk Magazine Names CME Exchange Of The Year - Derivatives Exchanges Had To Face Up To Electronic Competition Last Year - The Chicago Mercantile Exchange Responded By Reinventing Itself. - Risk

Risk magazine has named the Chicago Mercantile Exchange "Derivatives Exchange of the Year" for 1999, saluting the CME for its "raft of new initiatives" demonstrating hat "the CME is facing up to the changing nature of exchanges and to the challenge that non-traditional' exchanges and markets...pose to conventional futures exchanges." Risk specifically cited the CME's demutualization plan, the expansion of the successful E-mini concept, the exchange's linkage with LIFFE and the GLOBEX® Alliance in an article announcing the award. The Risk Awards 2000 are the first annual awards the magazine has presented. Introducing the awards, the magazine said, "Above all, the awards recognise innovation and excellence in the derivatives industry and in the science of risk management over the past year." The awards are featured in the magazine's January issue.
