Gavin Prentice, managing director and head of commodities at Marex Financial, has been appointed to serve as a Ring Dealing Member (RDM) representative of LME Holdings Limited, and Stephen Branton-Speak, partner at Goldman Sachs, has been appointed to serve as an Associate Broker Clearing Member (ABCM) representative.
Both will also sit as directors on the board of The London Metal Exchange Limited.
It has also been announced that Catherine Claydon, will join the Board of The London Metal Exchange Limited as an Independent Director. From 1992 to 2007 Catherine worked at Goldman Sachs, from 2002 as Managing Director, Pension Advisory Group and from 2007 to 2008 held the same position at Lehman Brothers International.
Their appointments were confirmed at today’s annual general meeting of LME Holdings Limited.
Mike Frawley, senior vice president and global head of metals and plastics for New Edge, and Philip Culliford, a former director of Goldman Sachs, retired from the board at the AGM.

Background:
- Gavin Prentice has over 25 years experience broking on the London Metal Exchange having started his career with Amalgamated Metal Trading Ltd, a category 1 Ring Dealing Member. He was appointed Global Head of Metals for Refco Overseas Ltd in 2002 and became Head of Commodities for Marex when the Company was established in 2006. Gavin is a full board member of Marex Financial and is actively involved in daily LME trading He is a member of the LME Trading Committee, the LME Charity Committee and is an independent Trustee for the Greater London Fund for the Blind.
- Stephen Branton-Speak runs the metals trading business on the Commodities Desk at Goldman Sachs. He joined in 1997 as a metals trader. He was named Managing Director in 2006 and Partner in 2008. Prior to joining the firm, Steve worked as a precious metals trader with Engelhard.
Steve is on the management committee on the London Bullion Market Association and is a former member of the London Platinum and Palladium management committee. - Catherine Claydon is a non executive director of the Witan Investment Trust. Catherine is a former managing director of the Lehman Brothers Pension Advisory Group, from Jan 2007 to November 2008. Previously she held the same role at Goldman Sachs. She was Head of Metals Sales at Goldman Sachs from 2001 – 2002 and prior to that was Managing Director and Global Head of the Commodity Index Business. Catherine joined Goldman Sachs in 1992 as an Associate in derivatives structuring after completing her MBA at Wharton.
Catherine is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario with a BA in Philosophy and Economics.
