Gold, silver and bronze medalists of the paralympic delegation opened trading on TASE this morning in celebration of their achievements at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
The delegation won 4 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 4 bronze medals. In appreciation of the paralympic team’s outstanding achievements in Paris, Moran Samuel, single scull rower, who won a gold medal, and members of the goalball team, who won a silver medal, were invited, together with Chairman of the Olympic Committee, Moshe Mutz Matalon, to ring the opening bell at TASE.
Chairman of the Olympic Committee, Moshe Mutz Matalon, said: “Just like TASE, we are committed to investment, with emphasis on long-term investment. While the preparation of the athletes for the games in Los Angeles, in less than four years, is well underway, we are currently taking in massive numbers of wounded war heroes and conducting their rehabilitation through sports, to show our endless gratitude to those heroes and as a service to our country.”
Gal Hamrani, Captain of the goalball team, comprising blind and visually impaired athletes, accompanied by her guide dog, Dylan, who also accompanied her in Paris, said: “On behalf of the athletes, I would like to thank you for welcoming us here today. This important initiative has become a tradition, and I encourage more companies and organizations to follow the example of TASE and increase awareness to paralympic sports. I know that my fellow athletes and I are a source of pride and hope for many, especially at this time.”
Ittai Ben Zeev, TASE CEO, said: “At the close of this challenging year, we are delighted and honored to have the paralympic delegation open trading at TASE. During the Olympic games, with the war ongoing in Israel, the athletes became a beacon of light and a model of strength and resilience for us all, and more so for our wounded soldiers, facing the daily challenges of rehabilitation. The capital market and sports share the common values of perseverance, optimism and long-term vision, and we are proud to stand with these outstanding athletes who exemplify those values.”
The ceremony was also attended by Chairman of ILAN, Prof. Alon Domanis, Nisim Sasportas, CEO of The Israel Sports Association for the Disabled, Dr. Ron Bolotin, Professional Director of the Paralympic Committee, and Dr. Osnat Fliess Douer, Head of the Committee’s Science and Technology Unit, as well as by students of Shamir elementary school in Herzliya, who have been learning about paralympic sports over the past year, joined by the school’s principal, Iris Oren.
