FTSE Mondo Visione Exchanges Index:

Regular Review Due For FTSE Indices

Date 08/11/2000

The next set of regular changes to the benchmark FTSE UK indices will be announced on Wednesday 06 December following a meeting of the independent FTSE practitioner committee.

Confirmation of new additions and deletions to the UK indices will be announced after 1630 GMT on that day. The process used for all reviews is completely transparent - the ground rules followed by the committee are published at http://www.ftse.com.

Companies seeking to enter the indices as new constituents must satisfy the clearly defined criteria laid out in the Ground Rules, including the "20 day rule". This states that securities must have a minimum trading record of at least 20 trading days prior to the date of the review. For the upcoming December review that date is 08 November.

Securities which qualify for inclusion in the indices will then be ranked in order of size, by using their market capitalisation figure. This will be assessed using close of business figures supplied by the London Stock Exchange on Tuesday 05 December.

Mark Makepeace, FTSE MD said: "FTSE indices are completely transparent and rules- driven. Our products reflect market activity and are a barometer of performance across the world's markets. The regular quarterly review ensures that FTSE indices are always up to date."

Details of the European and World indices reviews will be announced separately on Friday 08 December.
