Record Volumes Set at Winnipeg Commodity Exchange During Fiscal Year

Several new Records were set in futures and OPtions volumes during Winnipeg Commodity Exchange's 1998/1999 fiscal year.
Total futures and options traded between September 1, 1998 and August 31, 1999 set a new record at 2,092,754 contracts. The previous record (2,086,112 contracts) was set during the 1996/1997 fiscal year.
A record fiscal year volume was also established in WCE's premier canola futures contract, with 1,644,025 contracts traded. A new record volume in canola options for the 1998/1999 fiscal year (52,949 contracts) exceeded the previous fiscal year total by 140%. It is notable that trade activity in WCE's options market has increased nearly 200% to date in 1999, compared with the same time period in 1998.
WCE is a not for-profit organization and Canada's only agricultural futures and options exchange. WCE Offers futures contracts on canola, flaxseed, domestic feed wheat, western barley, oats, and field peas. Options contracts are available on canola, flaxseed, feed wheat, and western barley.
