Record Turnover In EEX Spot Market: 55,231 MWh Traded

European Energy Exchange EEX set a new record in turnover on the spot market on Monday, with 55,231 MWh (megawatt hours) traded, the highest volume ever traded on an electricity exchange in Germany. The previous record in Germany was 53,862 MWh on May 17. A daily average of about 30,000 MWh are traded on the EEX spot market.

The total comprises 5.791 MWh traded in individual hours and 49.440 MWh in blocks, 17.640 MWh in peak-load blocks and 31.800 MWh in base-load blocks. There are now 35 participants from seven countries trading on the EEX spot market: Austria (3), Belgium (1), Germany (21), the Netherlands (2), Spain (1), Switzerland (4) and the UK (3).
