Share turnover yesterday rose to EUR 7.7 billion (previous record: EUR 7.6 billion on December 5, 2002) and the number of trades totaled 145,199 (previous record: 141,469 trades on January 18, 2006). These were the combined figures for the exchanges in Stockholm, Helsinki, Copenhagen, Tallinn, Riga and Vilnius (pro forma).
“The whole of 2005 was characterized by high trading activity, and trading throughout January this year has been extremely high. The number of trades during several of the trading days in January have qualified for the list of 20 best trading days ever,” says Jukka Ruuska, Head of Nordic Marketplaces, OMX.
