While futures volume dropped slightly from February, options gained prominence in March setting a new monthly high for canola options pit trade volume, 11,886 contracts, compared to 10,444 contracts traded in June 1999. Meanwhile, total options pit trade surpassed 13,741 contracts in March; also well ahead of the previous record of 10,469 contracts established in June 1999.
