Total market volume was 223,206 lots, beating the previous record day of 216,266 lots recently set on 12 February 2002.
Stephen Gutteridge, Business Development Director, said, "a number of factors affected the energy markets yesterday, which positively contributed to this record day. Prices were very volatile, rising at one point to over $24, and stock drawdowns added to sentiment. Continuing volatility of this type will undoubtedly see further strong performance from the IPE".
