Record Daily Electronic Volume Set On Winnipeg Commodity Exchange

Winnipeg Commodity Exchange Inc. (“WCE”) recorded its highest daily volume today since WCE converted to an electronic trading platform on December 20, 2004.

A total of 21,861 futures and options contracts were traded. The previous highest total daily volume recorded under the electronic trading platform was 20,814 contracts, which was recorded two months ago on March 31, 2005.

Western Barley futures contract trade on May 31, 2005 is the second highest daily total volume for that contract. There were 8,544 Western Barley futures contracts traded today. The highest daily volume for Western Barley is 11,954 contracts which was recorded on March 31, 2005. The October 2005 Western Barley futures contract posted a record today for that Western Barley contract month, with 4,283 contracts traded. The previous volume record for October Western Barley futures was set on August 7, 2003 when 2,136 contracts were traded.
