FTSE Group (FTSE), the award winning global index provider today announced that it is extending the range of indices available on the FTSE App for iPhone though the inclusion of real-time values for the South African benchmark index, the FTSE/JSE Top 40.
Users of the app are able to view a real-time streaming service, whereby continuous changes in the underlying equity prices are automatically captured in the index value, providing iPhone users with direct market insight wherever they may be.
Ana Forssman, Senior General Manager of Information Products at the JSE said “As global appetite continues to climb for companies with operations in South Africa and the African continent, this development will bring global market information closer to South Africans whilst increasing the visibility of JSE data to international investors. It also makes financial information more accessible to the private investor,”
Commenting on the upgrade, Melvyn Lee, Director of Partnerships at FTSE said “We are seeing strong levels of interest in emerging markets such as South Africa as investors look for diversification opportunities outside of developed equity markets. Since launch in March 2011, the FTSE App has received over 25,000 downloads worldwide.
The enhanced version of the app is available now on the iTunes store.
