Readout From US Secretary Of The Treasury Scott Bessent's And US Secretary Of Commerce Howard Lutnick's Meeting With Minister Ryosei Akazawa Of Japan

Today, Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent and Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick met with Economic Revitalization Minister Ryosei Akazawa of Japan.

Secretary Bessent thanked Minister Akazawa for his sustained engagement with the United States on fair and reciprocal trade, and noted his recent meeting with Finance Minister Katsunobu Kato in Banff, Canada.

Continuing their frank and constructive discussions, Secretary Bessent highlighted to Minister Akazawa the importance of addressing tariffs and non-tariff measures, increasing investment, and working together to address economic security and other issues of mutual concern.

Secretary Bessent reaffirmed the strong bilateral relationship between the United States and Japan, and noted the continuing working-level talks between the United States and Japan across a multitude of economic issues.
