Qatar Stock Exchange organized the final stage of its second annual financial education competition, which was held remotely due to the precautionary measures to combat Covid-19. QSE was happy to host the virtual event with the participation of the following seven teams from six universities/colleges participated in the final phase of the competition:
- College of Business and Economics (Male) - Qatar University
- College of Islamic Studies – Hamad Bin Khalifa University
- Stenden Qatar University
- Community College Qatar
- AFG College with the University of Aberdeen
- Carnegie Mellon University – Qatar
- College of Business and Economics (Female) - Qatar University
The second edition of this competition represents Qatar Stock Exchange’s commitment to improve financial and investment awareness among future generations.
Hussein Al-Abdullah, Director of Marketing and Communication, QSE, expressed his gratitude for the fruitful cooperation between QSE and local universities through this educational competition, noting that QSE, as one of the leading national entities, is keen on cooperation with the local community and its development based on the Qatar National Vision 2030 pillars of human development, indicating that the Stock Exchange is working to spread investment awareness among various segments of the Qatari society.
It is worth noting that Qatar Stock Exchange annually calls on students to carry out a research on a certain theme and to provide the required analysis and recommendations. Additionally, Students are required to present the results of their research before an independent jury consisting of a distinguished group of judges with great experience in the financial and economic field. The theme for this version is "The Importance of Financial Analysis in Stocks Valuation".
The QSE announcement stated that Qatar Financial Centre (QFC) has signed an agreement to become the Strategic Partner of the competition and the exclusive sponsor of the prizes, which amounts to QAR 50,000, provided by QFC for the first three winning teams in the competition.
“Youth empowerment is a key pillar of QFC's social investment programme, which is aligned with Qatar's development goal of creating a knowledge-based economy. I am proud of what the students have achieved in this competition. By encouraging our youth to apply academic tools and principles to real-life problems in financial analysis, we help to develop more financial literacy and nurture a wise investment culture among our youth.”

QSE is also pleased to announce that "Aamal Company" is selected to be the case study for this year’s analysis due to its well-informative website, which provide comprehensive information, in particular the Investor Relations section, which offers sufficient information that investors and financial analysts require.
It is worth mentioning that this edition of the competition was very tight between the teams, where Carnegie Mellon University Qatar team ranked first by a very small margin ahead of the College of Business and Economics (Females) – Qatar University team who finished in the second place, and in the third came the College of Islamic Studies – HBKU team.
