On November 9, 2022, the SSE Global Investors Conference 2022 kicked off in Shanghai. Fang Xinghai, Vice Chairman of the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC), and Wu Qing, Executive Vice Mayor of Shanghai, delivered speeches via video link. Qiu Yong, Chairman of the Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE), delivered a speech on site. With the theme of "Openness, Innovation and Sustainability", the conference brought together nearly 100 distinguished guests from top global investment institutions. They shared their experience of investing in the China's market with over 1,000 international investors and passed on their good expectations for China's prospects.
Over the past three years, the SSE has given full play to the pivotal role of the Global Investors Conference, a landmark event in the high-standard opening up of China's capital market and the construction of Shanghai International Finance Center, in investment promotion, opening up and cooperation, roadshow publicity, and achievement presentation, providing international investors with an effective channel to feel the development of China's economy and explore the investment value of the A-share market. This is the fourth consecutive year that the SSE has hosted the Global Investors Conference. During the six-day conference, 27 keynote speeches and roundtable discussions will be held on four topics, namely the high-standard opening up of China's capital market, the capital market serving scientific and technological innovation, green finance, and the development of the SSE market's in all respects; the "International Investors Visiting SSE-listed Companies", a supporting activity of the conference, will be launched simultaneously. Over 70 international investors' research activities will be conducted intensively during the conference.
The high-quality development of China's economy has provided more opportunities for international investors to share China's growth. Since this year, the national economy has withstood challenges and continued to recover in the face of complex and severe internal and external situations. China's capital market has demonstrated good resilience and vitality, with two-way opening up initiatives coming to fruition one after another. By virtue of an increasingly mature cross-border investment system and continued expansion of channels, international investors can participate more conveniently in the China's market, with a steadily growing transaction size. At the conference, international funds expressed their appreciation of China's long-term development potential. According to a number of top foreign institutions in North America, Europe and Asia Pacific, they voiced their belief that Chinese assets offer growth, diversification and excess returns for long-term overseas funds. In recent years, China has introduced a series of measures to promote financial reforms and encouraged more and more international investors to join China's market. In the future, the high-quality opening up of China's capital market will bring more development opportunities for international financial institutions and investors.
The prosperity of the SSE market has opened up a wide investment space for international investors. Over the years, the SSE has continued to optimize the listing standards, trading mechanism and other systems and rules of the STAR Market, steadily promoted the innovation of bonds, ETFs, options and other products, optimized the rules and product operation mechanism of REITs, stepped up efforts in building a digital intelligent exchange, promoted green and sustainable development, and provided international investors with increasingly rich investment tools and investment opportunities with long-term potential. The conference featured a one-day SSE themed event, where international investors will be showcased the vitality and innovative development of the SSE's stock, bond, fund and derivatives markets to attract them to increase their investments in the SSE market.
As the "backbone" of the real economy, listed companies on the SSE continue to be resilient and dynamic. The Main Board companies have performed steadily and the STAR Market constantly delivered impressive results, demonstrating the value of A-shares in global asset allocation. Since this year, the SSE has organized international investors to visit over 50 companies to facilitate research of nearly 600 institutional representatives. The conference's "International Investors Visiting SSE-listed Companies" event exceeds that of any previous session in scale. International investors from around the world will meet face-to-face with executives from 70 SSE Main Board and STAR Market companies from both traditional and emerging industries. By bringing more SSE companies into the view of international investors and promoting international investors to expand their investment research coverage of SSE companies, this will help SSE-listed companies improve their investor relations management and attract long-term capital.
Opening up is a basic state policy. The 20th CPC National Congress further proposed that China remains committed to the basic state policy of opening-up, and will only open its doors wider to the outside world. In recent years, under the CSRC's strong leadership, the SSE has actively integrated into the overall situation of the country's high-standard opening up, constantly deepened the connectivity mechanism of the capital market, steadily promoted the opening up of the bond market, enriched the toolbox for cross-border asset allocation, optimized and improved the service mechanism for international investors, and continuously promoted the institutional opening-up of the market. Next, the SSE will continue to communicate extensively with global institutional investors based on the Global Investors Conference, promote further understanding and participation of international investors in China's capital market, and actively push forward high-standard institutional opening-up, thereby serving the high-quality development of China's capital market.
