The talks centered on the prospects of cooperation between the MICEX and Hewlett-Packard in the area of developing and using advanced electronic technologies in Russia’s financial markets. The parties also discussed current trends of development of information technologies, the implications of their penetration into business as a whole and the sphere of international and Russian financial market and the areas of short- and medium-term cooperation between the MICEX and Hewlett-Packard in the development of electronic and network technologies of the financial market.
For a long time, Hewlett-Packard has been the MICEX’s reliable technological partner. Since its emergence in 1992, the MICEX has tried to buy only the most advanced highly effective and reliable computers and top quality peripheral equipment manufactured by Hewlett-Packard. One of the results of this cooperation was the creation, in 1994-2004, of the MICEX trading system, based on the most up-to-date technologies.
Today, Hewlett-Packard’s powerful servers form the basis of the MICEX’s information and technological infrastructure, which secures the functioning of Russia’s key financial markets: the foreign exchange market, the corporate securities market and the government securities market. The whole information of the MICEX’s electronic systems is stored in ultrareliable high-speed corporate data storage facilities XP-256 and XP-128, delivered by Hewlett-Packard. Hewlett-Packard’s software tools of OpenView family are used to monitor and control the MICEX’s vast telecommunication network, covering the whole territory of Russia. Hewlett-Packard also provides high-quality support to the whole range of its computer installations, equipment and software, which are used by the MICEX.
