The President of the Republic, Giorgio Napolitano, has received today at 21.00 at the Quirinale Palace, the President of the Council of Ministers, Mr Silvio Berlusconi, who, having completed the parliamentary process of examination and approval of the stability law and the budget State forecast, has resigned from the government he chairs.
The President, in thanking him for his cooperation, has reserved his decision and urged the outgoing government to remain in office for the handling of current affairs.
The consultation of the Head of State will be held tomorrow.
