PLUS Markets Group announced a strong surge in reported flow for the third quarter of the year, illustrating its continued growth in the UK retail market. Trading numbers were up 270% in Q3 against same period in 2008.
September was a particularly strong month for volume, with PLUS reported flow just shy of 10 billion shares for the month.
This growth can be attributed to September being the first full month of reported flow in AIM stocks and it showed some great results. The majority of trading in approximately 300 AIM stocks calculated both by volume and by value took place on PLUS. During the month, PLUS attracted non-order book AIM trading of almost 47% and over one third of total AIM trading (36%).
Examples of some AIM stocks traded almost exclusively on PLUS include:

"September was our first full month for AIM trading - we’re delighted with our market share so far and will be looking to build on it” said Business Development Director, Cyril Theret. “The continued growth in the overall UK retail trading market share underscores that PLUS provides choice and competitive costs for the end user. We’re seeing the market continue to support and adopt our retail focused model, not just in small and mid cap securities, but across the whole spectrum of UK stocks. We will continue to capitalise on our position as the facility for retail flow, which ultimately benefits both the end user and the wider market"
