PLUS Markets posted in February its highest trading yet since it launched its extended trading offering in December 2005. February saw 71,607 trades, valued at £421 million representing a volume of 645 million shares traded on the PLUS platform.

Business Development Director Cyril Theret said, “Overall, we’re pleased to see our strong start to the year in January continuing into February. We currently have companies from FTSE 250, FTSE Fledgling, FTSE Small Cap and AIM indices trading on the PLUS platform, and we are continuing to build our trading service offering. ”

Last year, over half a million trades, worth a total of nearly £3 billion, representing over 5.75 billion shares, took place on PLUS rather than on traditional exchanges. There are over 860 small and mid-cap companies now trading on the PLUS market, 660 of which are PLUS-traded with their listing or quotation on other London markets, and 195 are PLUS-quoted with their listing on the PLUS primary market (as at the end of February 2007). The combined market capitalisation of the PLUS market now exceeds £150 billion.
