Platts To Unveil World’s Top 250 Energy Firms - Singapore Official To Keynote “Unveiling Of 10th Annual Roster Set For November 2 At Industry Event”

Date 24/10/2011

Singapore Minister of State for Trade & Industry Teo Ser Luck will address energy executives at the unveiling of the tenth annual Platts Top 250 Global Energy Company Rankings™ on November 2 at 7:30 p.m. at an awards dinner to be held at the Singapore Pan Pacific.

“When the Platts Top 250 Global Energy Company Rankings were first published for fiscal 2001, Asia was just beginning its rapid ascent on the world energy scene. Since then, Asia-Pacific oil and power firms have consistently moved up in our global rankings,” said Larry Neal, president of Platts, a leading global energy, petrochemicals and metals information provider and host of the event. “We look forward to Minister Teo Ser Luck’s insights on the region’s decade of energy success and his outlook for the future.”

Mr. Teo Ser Luck was appointed Minister of State for Trade and Industry on May 21, 2011 and has actively championed the global energy sustainability imperative as well as the vision of Singapore as Asia’s gateway to clean technology development. Teo Ser Luck is also mayor of the North East District Community Development Council and was elected Member of Parliament in 2006 for Pasir Ris-Punggoi Group Representation Constituency. The World Economic Forum in 2007 honored him as a young global leader for his contribution to the business and community services sectors.

In addition to announcing the full roster of the world’s leading 250 energy companies, Platts will identify and honor at the dinner the top ten Asian energy companies, top ten fastest growing companies in Asia, and top Asian energy companies in each of eight industry segments*.

For a second year, guest host and moderator CNBC Asia-Pacific Correspondent Saijal Patel will join Platts executives on stage to honor energy executives from Asia and other regions for their leadership role in energy.

The Platts Top 250 Global Energy Companies Awards Dinner, now in its sixth year, is being held in association with Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW), a tradition begun in 2009.

The annual Platts Top 250 Global Energy Company Rankings are based on financial performance in four key arenas: asset worth, revenues, profits and return on invested capital (ROIC). All companies in the list have assets in excess of US$3.5 billion. Underlying data come from S&P Capital IQ, a brand division of The McGraw-Hill Companies.

The 2011 Platts Top 250 Global Energy Company Awards Dinner is sponsored by OpenLink, a developer of energy and financial trading and risk management software solutions with offices in New York, London and Houston.
