Platts To Unveil 2013 Top 250 Global Energy Company Rankings On October 29 Annual Roster And New “Asia CEO Of The Year” To Be Announced At Singapore Dinner

Date 09/09/2013

Platts, a leading global provider of energy, petrochemicals and metals information, will announce its 2013 Top 250 Global Energy Company Rankings™ on October 29 during Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW), an annual series of events addressing pertinent energy issues.  The Platts Top 250 Rankings, now in their 12th year, will be unveiled at the company’s Asia Awards Dinner to be held this year at The Fullerton Hotel, Singapore.

The 2013 Platts Top 250 Global Energy Company Rankings reflect the financial performance of publicly held energy companies for fiscal year 2012, based on a combination of four factors: asset worth, revenues, profits and return on invested capital. The list also ranks companies by industry sector and region and names the 50 fastest-growing companies

In addition to unveiling the 2013 rankings, Platts will name its first “Asia CEO of the Year,” who will be chosen by an independent panel of judges.  Asian companies included in the 2013 Top 250 ranking have been notified of their eligibility to nominate their top executive for this honor. Nominees for the “Asia CEO of the Year” will also be included in the nomination pool for the 2013 Platts Global Energy Awards’ “CEO of the Year” award, which will be presented in New York in December.

“We’re proud to introduce a new award that acknowledges the tremendous leadership behind the financial success of energy companies in Asia,” said Patsy Wurster, director of Platts strategic media, and organizer of the event. “With honors going to a top Asian executive and ever more Asian energy companies joining the ranks of the Top 250, our Asia Awards Dinner promises to be an especially exciting event this year.”

The dinner is expected to draw the attendance of more than 300 energy executives from the Asia-Pacific region and will celebrate and recognize companies’ financial achievements, advancements within the industry ranks and leadership within their respective energy sectors: diversified utilities, electric utilities, gas utilities, independent power producers, coal and consumable fuels, integrated oil and gas, refining and marketing, exploration and production, or storage and transportation.

Seventy companies from the Asia-Pacific region, largely from China and India, made last year’s roster. ExxonMobil was at the top of the list for the ninth consecutive year and Anglo-Dutch major Royal Dutch Shell plc advanced from sixth place to second, pushing U.S. major Chevron from second place to third.

Attendance at this year’s 2013 Platts Top 250 Asia Awards Dinner is open to all companies with business interests in Asia and to energy companies worldwide. Accredited media may attend as Platts’ guests with advanced registration. Television cameras are welcome.
