PHLX To Begin Trading Wireless Telecom Sector

The Philadelphia Stock Exchange (PHLX) announced today that it will begin trading options on the Wireless Telecom Sector (YLS) at the opening of business on Monday, May 15, 2000.

The Wireless Telecom Sector is an equal dollar-weighted index of 20 companies involved in various aspects of wireless telecommunication services and equipment. The specialist for this new sector is Susquehanna Investment Group. (Attached please find the index component issues.) "PHLX's new Wireless, Telecom Sector will enable investors to participate in this explosive industry without having to trade all of the individual components," said Meyer (Sandy) Frucher, PHLX Chairman and CEO.

The PHLX currently trades ten Sectors index options. They are: Computer Box Maker Sector, Forest and Paper Sector, Gold/Silver Sector, National Over-the-Counter Sector, Oil Service Sector, OTC Prime Sector, PHLX/KBW Bank Sector, The Street.com Internet Sector, Semiconductor Sector, and Utility Sector. Volume in these sectors during the first four months of 2000 reached a record 1,251,870 contracts, a 7% increase over the first four months of 1999 when 1,164,547 contracts changed hands.
