PHLX equity volume thrugh the first quarter of 2000 increased to a record 787,617,310 shares traded, an increase of over 49% in comparison to the same time period last year when 450,049,071 shares changed hands. In addition, equity volume for the month of March 2000 reached 252,651,813 shares, an increase of over 52% in comparison to March 1999 when 165,782,170 shares traded. The PHLX trades over 2600 equity issues.
Volume in PHLX's customized and standard currency options reached 96,887 contracts traded for the first three months of the year for an underlying value of $4.3 billion.
